Hallo, ich bin Frau Harrell! (German/Deutsch)
Hola soy la Sra. Harrell! (Spanish/ Espanol)
Hello I'm Ms. Harrell!
Here is a brief timeline about myself to help get a little more acquainted with me.
Birth - 10 years old
I was born August 3rd in Portsmouth, Virginia (Ft. Lee) which is right down the street from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I am definitely a beach baby!! I love to hear the ocean waves and feel the warmth of the sun. Once leaving from Portsmouth I moved to Germany. If you guessed I was a military child...YOU'RE CORRECT! I stayed in Germany until I was school age, and moved back to the United States. I then lived in Ft. Polk, Louisiana, and attended Ft. Polk Elementary. Once again I moved, but this time I moved to Ft. Stewart, Georgia. I remained there until the end of 3rd grade. I then moved back overseas known as Holland/Netherlands, but I split my years with Germany. While overseas I learned to speak German/ Deutsch, and became accustom to their way of living. I have been to Paris, France; Texel Island; and several other surrounding cities in both Germany and Holland.
11 years old- 21 years old
Once moving back to the United States, my dad retired in Ft. Benning, Georgia, and moved to his home state of Alabama. Since being a military family, it was inevitable to be near a military base; hence, moving as close as possible to Maxwell AFB, AL which is located in Montgomery. I attended both middle and high school in this county. I graduated May 2004 from Robert E. Lee High School. I then decided to attend Auburn University Montgomery to work on my nursing degree due to my aspirations of wanting to be a pediatric nurse. However, I disliked clinicals and decided to change my major.
22 years old-28 years old
I knew that I wanted to work with children so I changed my major to education and fell in love with the career field. I graduated Fall 2009 with my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. While attending A.U.M. I pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Fall of 2006 and was on the Dean's List majority of my undergraduate career. Since graduating I worked for the past 3 1/2 years in Montgomery County Public Schools. I have taught, tutored, and substituted. I also took Spanish 1 and 2 in high school which helped with working with ESL students. At the age of 26 I finally had my first child, Laiklyn or "Lake". She is now three years old and the light of my life. Just watching her grow has inspired me to grow and be even better as well. I felt empowered to return to school and work on my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I achieved that goal and graduated, with a 3.72 GPA, Spring 2014 with my Master's Degree in Elementary Education.
29 years old...
This marks my fourth year teaching and I am ecstatic!!! I just re-enrolled at Auburn University Montgomery to work on my Leadership Certification, and in the near future I plan on attending Auburn University to work on my Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Harrell coming soon....
I hope this mini-timeline gives you a deeper understanding of who I am. Having a child of my own, I can definitely relate to the concerns a parent would and should have. However, hopefully by reading this timeline I hope you will feel more relieved that your child is most definitely in great hands. :)
